The Science of Energy Resources and Power Explained Audible Audio Edition Michael E Wysession The Great Courses Books Reviews
- This is an important set of lectures. Professor Wysession is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but the lectures still felt to be a bit of a slog. The information is dense, the particulars of energy complicated, and the breadth of energy sources covered is extensive. From physics and geology, to politics and ecology, there is a lot of information. A good primer on energy and the many issues (from policy considerations to human needs) surrounding its past, current, and future forms, production, and usage.
- This detailed explanation about the pros and cons of energy and our dependency on it is thought provoking. Using this lecture to inform how we look at energy policy, energy companies, and sociological implications in my opinion should be taught to all people who use energy.
- Covered a large topic and explained it very well.
Highly recommend this book! - Good technical information regarding essential concepts that many may be unfamiliar with such as specific energy, energy density, the relationship between energy and power, etc. Disgracefully biased regarding controversial issues where there are multiple sides. He definitely cherry picks data that supports his own very obvious political leanings. Pulls the same propaganda technique of labeling tax deduction opportunities for corporate entities he doesn't like as "subsidies."
